This large project included a large expansion and rebuilding scheme for this port specialized in handling Trucks and passengers from all Arab countries using the ferry from Aqaba to Nowabea 800,000 m2 (120,000 truck and building 1.7 million passenger/year) the project includes 3 building , separate terminals , truck terminal , passenger terminal , and trip ticket private case and buses terminal , in addition to Quay extension , new road system , service zones , housing for stuff , total infrastructure for the port and service . Cargo terminal includes gates , custom house , one stop shop building and utility service for 3 import , export and transit truck , Packing and inspection yards with total 500 trucks and 50 referred trucks. The terminal includes scanning facilities and drivers service building. passenger terminal building is the largest in Egypt for ferries with total area of 24,000 m2 to accommodate 1.7million passenger per year including 4 passenger halls (arrival and departure of first and second class passenger ) in addition to a VIP lounge , free shopping hall reception hall with commercial facilities , banks and office of travel agencies , luggage facilities and a control administration tower for the whole port. The terminal area surrounding the building (90,000 m2 ) is used for different types of outside bus parking , shuttle parking and luggage handling yards , ware house building for customs and security facilities and the main gate of the passenger terminal . The trip ticket terminal occupies an area of 45000 m2 includes inspection and packing yards, one stop shop building , customs house , security and traffic police office and scanning facility . All the terminal are connected to Quay operation zone. Future works (2015-2020) included 220 meter Quay extension and new multi-purpose terminal as case extension of port .
